British Columbia (BC) Security Guard License Practice Exam 2026 - Free Security Guard License Practice Questions and Study Guide

Calling the police is the appropriate action to take if a crime has been committed because law enforcement has the authority, training, and resources necessary to investigate and respond to criminal activity. The police are equipped to handle emergencies, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and make arrests if needed. Involving the police ensures that proper legal procedures are followed, which is crucial for the effective handling of the situation and for potential prosecution of the offender.

While reporting to a security guard may provide immediate notification of the incident, and informing a neighbor could help with community awareness, neither of these options carries the same level of authority or capability to address the crime effectively as contacting law enforcement does. Ignoring the situation is not an option, as it can lead to further victimization and allows criminal activity to persist without consequence.
